What is Paint Correction?

Paint correction is the meticulous process of restoring and enhancing the finish of your vehicle’s paintwork by removing surface imperfections such as swirl marks, fine scratches, oxidation, and water spots. At Diamond Cut Detailing in Exeter, we use professional-grade polishing tools and cutting compounds to safely refine the paint surface, revealing a deep, high-gloss finish that significantly improves your car’s appearance. This process not only enhances the overall aesthetic but also prepares the surface for protective coatings such as ceramic or wax sealants.

Whether your vehicle has suffered from poor washing techniques, environmental contaminants, or general wear and tear, our expert team in Exeter is equipped to restore its showroom shine. We tailor each paint correction service to suit the specific needs of your vehicle, ensuring the best possible results without compromising paint thickness or integrity. Multi-Stage Correction

This service is designed for vehicles with heavy and severe defects, we are significantly improving the finish by removing all of the swirls, etching from bird droppings and all but the heaviest of scratches. We can usually achieve a correction of 90 – 95% of paint defects present.

Wet sanding may be necessary in localised areas to remove heavy imperfections or to help get rid of the orange peel effect that can sometimes be found on a panel. These are normally present after paint repairs in a body shop although total paint thickness and defect severity are sometimes limiting factors. 100% correction is rarely possible and compromise has to be made on areas with thin clear coat, where it would be impractical to sacrifice lacquer and run the risk of striking through.

This service is ultimately the highest level of paint correction we provide and is certain to give a huge transformation, whilst adding value back into your vehicle and save you the cost of a potential respray.
